Near、Nearly

near亦是形容詞或介詞，可指時間上或距離上的“近”皆可。

nearly做為“幾乎、差不多”解釋，用法與almost同，一律放句中。

He lives near.                               節約度日

He lives nearby.                           住在附近

People come from near and far.    四面八方

That is really a near close call.    千鈞一髮

I nearly missed my flight.             差點錯過

High、Highly

high亦是形容詞，做為“高”解釋。

highly做為“非常、極”解釋，用法與very不同，可修飾動詞。

Birds fly high in the sky.     ( high作副詞，修飾fly)

He lives in the high building.  ( high作形容詞，修飾building)

Raw materials are growing high in price. (high作形容詞，為連綴動詞grow的補語)

He highly respects his father.------------------------------他十分地敬重他的父親

All his friends speak highly of him.-------------------他的朋友予以他高度的評價
