cause v [Tn, Tnt, Dn.n, Dn.pr] ~ sth (for sb) be the cause of (sth); make happen 造成(某事物); 使發生: Smoking can cause lung cancer. 吸煙可致肺癌. * What caused the explosion? 爆炸是怎樣引起的? * The cold weather caused the plants to die. 天氣寒冷凍死了植物. * He caused his parents much unhappiness. 他弄得父母很不愉快. * She's always causing trouble for people. 她總是給人添麻煩.

 

Get

[no passive 不用於被動語態: Tn.pr, Tn.p] cause (sb) to come in a specified direction as a visitor, guest, etc 邀請(某人)來訪、來作客等: We're having friends (over) for dinner. 我們請朋友們來吃飯. * We had her up here last term to give a lecture. 我們上學期請她上這裏來講過課.
