Military prosecutor urges end to sensational coverage in dead soldier case (2013/07/23)

The death of a soldier under suspicious circumstances has turned into a major media event, filling the airwaves of news stations and talk shows, not to mention newspapers and tabloids. On Tuesday chief military prosecutor Tsao Chin-sheng said he has had enough of the circus. He sought to dispel what he calls the worst of the rumors, though some of his answers only produced more questions.

The intensity of the training certainly did not meet regulations. But to say that group torture took place is going overboard. I want everyone to think about what this departure from the truth, this embellishment, means to the victim. How can his family endure it?

A form of ill treatment being theorized upon is water torture. The claim emerged online, and NTU Dr. Ke Wen-jhe says Hung’s low sodium count gives it plausibility. So, in a rare move, the military sought its own civilian expert.

I am curious about where all the water came from. But I want people to remember: if you have too much water, sometimes it’s because too much went into the body, and sometimes it’s because the body can’t expel it.
Another piece of speculation is Hung’s soldier diary. The last entry is from December, which has led to suspicions of destroyed evidence. Tsao attempted to refute that claim.

Hung Chung-chiu’s soldier diary is just like this one. It is made with adhesive binding, not spiral binding. We would immediately be able to know if anyone removed a page. (Hung’s) company counselor blames the lack of entries on his own laziness. The counselor says he did not take the initiative to request that Hung write in the diary.
But on Monday the victim’s family displayed the diary which it says it received from the military upon Hung’s death. That diary was spiral bound, only adding more questions to a case filled with doubts.

洪仲丘進展

陸軍下士洪仲丘冤死案，疑點重重，包括大兵日記疑似被滅證，洪仲丘生前被大量灌水，甚至出現軍方集體虐殺洪仲丘的說法，最高軍事檢察署檢察長曹金生今天出面一一駁斥。

受不了外界質疑洪仲丘之死，是軍方集體虐殺，高軍檢檢察長曹金生激動澄清。

“訓練強度，的確是有不符合規定的部分，但是稱他為集體虐殺，實在是太大的出入，這樣的不實，這樣的渲染，請大家想想，對往生者，還有他的家屬，情何以堪”

有網友爆料洪仲丘生前遭到灌水虐待，醫生柯文哲對於洪仲丘的病例報告中鈉離子偏低，不排除有這個可能性，對此，軍方罕見找來民間專家背書。

大兵日記只寫到12月，遭滅證的疑點，曹金生今天拿出跟洪仲丘同款的大兵日記釋疑。

“洪仲丘的大兵日誌，就像這個日誌一樣，是膠黏式的，並非活頁式，所以只要有人從中間把他撕掉一頁，我們立即可以查明。他的輔導長說明是，純粹因為他(輔導長)個人疏懶，並沒有積極要求該單位弟兄寫大兵日記”

只是昨天家屬出示軍方交還的洪仲丘大兵日記，明明就是活頁式的，也讓洪仲丘枉死案疑雲，又添一樁。
