你是否打算前往史卡博羅市集？

叫她為我做一件沒有接縫或縫紉的麻紗襯衣

其實這也沒超出每人均想要的，

親愛的，若然你完成妳的工作，

從此妳是屬於我的真愛。

「Remember me to someone」是請代我向她問好，首三項任務，不言而明白，而第四項的壩的北方應是北海，用皮革製成的鐮刀，又怎可能把東西切掉下來。石南花外形似薰衣草，也好像茶葉，不能如繩子一般使用，同時也許暗示苦盡甘來，因為石南花亦暗喻讚賞（admiration) 、美麗（beauty）、好運（good luck）、幽靜（solitude）、及保護（protection）。最後的「ask for her hand」，無論中外，婚姻也須獲未來外父同意，請求「拖那千金的手」，實為提親的意思，而「thou ... art」是現代的「you ... are」。

心可以問什麼問題？這點是筆者自己猜想的，埃米莉．狄更生（Emily Dickinson）有首詩：「Heart Asks Pleasure First」，詩中每個人先是關心自己的享樂，其後仍是自己......愛總要為別人作出一點付出，應該不是項不可能的任務.
