At a press conference today, Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou announced that the robot would be named “Pepper” and will go on sale in Japan at the end of June. The robot can help customers settle their bills, do housework, and also express basic emotions. Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou used Japanese to introduce this robot as Pepper. Robots are making rapid progress -- some are leading orchestras and becoming increasingly intelligent and able to express more emotions. Pepper has a battery life of 12 hours, and many believe it could replace the need for human staffing in areas such as nursing, child care, or customer service.
