Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau promotes cross-harbor cable car (2014/12/12)
Kaohsiung hopes to build a cross-harbor cable car system that would be the first of its kind in Taiwan. It would be similar to the cable car on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, though to avoid ship navigation lanes, it would have to be 100 meters in the air, making it the tallest cable car in Asia.
The Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau’s cross-harbor cable car proposal begins at Singuang Ferry Wharf and ultimately arrives at Cijin.

We don’t want it to interfere with Kaohsiung Harbor’s navigation routes. For this reason, (the cable car) needs to be at a height in excess of 100 meters. Its highest point would be 110 meters.
To cross the harbor, the cable car needs to travel 2.46 kilometers, a trip that is expected to take 12 minutes. The project still needs the approval of the Port of Kaohsiung before subsequent steps, such as land acquisition and seeking a BOT bidder, can begin.

After we accomplish land acquisition and find a bidder, we can conclude construction probably within a year. What is proving more difficult is the interim stage of the project, where we need to gain the cooperation of the port corporation.
The Kaohsiung City government envisions the cable car connecting the New Bay Area and Cijin, stimulating tourism and helping alleviate weekend traffic. It could be finished within four years.

催生跨港纜車 高市觀光局力推
高雄市積極推動旗津觀光纜車,將是全台灣第一座的跨港觀光纜車。為了避開高雄港航道限制,纜車高度將高達上百公尺,長2.5公里,跟新加坡聖淘沙纜車齊高,甚至會成為亞洲第一高的纜車。
高雄市觀光局推動跨港纜車,最新的規劃案,將從新光碼頭,跨港連到旗津地區。

希望不要影響高雄港的航道,所以標高現在從100米以上,最高可以到110米。
跨港纜車總長2.46公里,行駛時間約12分鐘。目前只要取得擁有航運權的港務公司的共識,包括用地取得和BOT招商,都不是問題。

土地的取得和招商的問題告一段落之後,興建應該很快可以完成,大概一年之內就可以完成興建的流程,中間比較要克服的,大概就是港務公司合作的意願。
高雄市府結合新灣區和旗津的觀光誘因,和疏解假日,旗津地區交通壓力的概念,規劃出小而美的跨港纜車計畫,最快四年內完工。
